I have a question about Atlantis?
Plato claimed that Egyptian priests told Solon about Atlantis, but there is no such tale in Egyptian literature. Atlantis was destroyed 9000 years before the time of Solon he said. That would make its sinking into the sea about 9600 B.C. Plato lived long after Solon. Solon lived 638-558 B.C., while Plato lived 428-347 B.C. Yes, Plato invented Atlantis, so he was the first one to mention it. He invented many more things in his "dialogues", e.g. other places and sayings of Solon and Socrates. Aristotle testifies that Plato invented Atlantis in his writings, and he was Plato's student, so he knew better than anyone else by far. There are some people who love such tales so much that they wish they were true. Plato surely was inspired by the true story of Crete's Minoan civilization that was destroyed by a tsunami caused by a volcano erupting at Thera (now Santorini).
